Since I'm still laid up on the couch working hard to recover, I've been reading extensively about the one thing that is dominating my thoughts these days. I have begun to navigate the vast collection of scholarly articles available via internet and am specifically interested in articles concerning the diet-endometriosis connection. In THIS article, scientists investigated the link between dietary fats and incidence of laparoscopic-confirmed endometriosis.
In summary, they found a correlation between trans fats and a higher incidence of endometriosis. Conversely, they discovered a relationship between omega-3 fatty acids and a reduced incidence of endometriosis. Their findings are quite encouraging- by reducing trans fat intake and by increasing omega-3 intake perhaps we can reduce the impact of endometriosis on our health and fertility? It's easy enough, though I DO love fries. and cheese curds.
World's Healthiest Foods offers a comprehensive guide to omega-3 fatty acids, as well as a list of foods that have the highest concentrations. Useful information for us all, endo or not!
